Yoga has many benefits, but if done incorrectly or excessively, it can have some negative effects:

  1. Injuries – Poor form, overstretching, or forcing poses can lead to muscle strains, joint pain, or even serious injuries like ligament tears.
  2. Hypermobility Issues – Excessive flexibility without strength can weaken joints and lead to instability.
  3. Overuse Strain – Practicing too frequently without rest can cause fatigue, muscle soreness, or repetitive strain injuries.
  4. Dizziness or Low Blood Pressure – Rapid position changes (like standing up from a deep forward bend) can cause dizziness, especially in those with low blood pressure.
  5. Emotional Discomfort – Deep breathing and meditation can sometimes bring up suppressed emotions, which may feel overwhelming for some people.
  6. Not Enough Strength Training – Relying only on yoga without adding resistance training may lead to muscle imbalances or weakness over time.

To avoid these issues, practice yoga mindfully, listen to your body, and balance it with strength training and proper recovery.
