Contextual Vocabulary

Learn words in context. This mean you should know more than one meaning of a word to be able to use it effectively. Also, it is important to understand words and their place in sentence structures. Sometimes you may be able to answer questions correctly if you recognize the word without knowing it's exact meaning. This is because by doing so you will be able to understand the context in which it is or should be used in a sentence.

Essays

Start writing essays and ensure you understand the topic well before your begin writing. You must have an intorduction in your essay which is not copied from the topic. The main body should have 2 or 3 paraghahs presenting different ideas with your viewpoints supported by relevant examples. Try and use mature examples which are internationally recognized instead of giving persoanl examples. The conclusion should be in line with the introduction but not a replica of the introduction. Before you begin writing, make an outline of the points to be included and only then begin to start writing

Active Reading
Indulge into active reading. While reading ask yourself what the title of the passge is, what is the author's tone, what is the purpose of the passsage, etc. Read on all topics ranging from world history to American politics to social sciences to other sciences. Also, read editorial pages of a good newspaper everyday.
