GRE Registration Process

• To begin with, you have to create an official account in the ETS website. While registering for the GRE, especially first-timers need to provide authentic and unique identification information. Be careful, while entering your name and birth-date in the registration field because the details should match exactly the ID proof you bring on the test day. You won’t be able to change the details after you create your account.

• Once you have created your account, select the test you want to take and then choose your country, state, and city and click on “Continue to Seat Selection” to select your desired testing centre.

• You will be sent to a page that contains a set of guidelines, which you can review later. Click on “Next” to enter your address into the search bar and then select the test centre that is close to your location and then agree to a bio-metrically enabled check-in.

• After selecting an ideal test centre, click on “Schedule an Appointment” to see the available dates. There are morning and afternoon time slots. Click on the suitable date to check what time slots are available. Your “appointment” will last for about 4.5 hours as that’s how long it takes to get set up in the test centre and complete the GRE.

• After selecting the date and the time you need to answer a series of questions. After which you will be directed to the payment page.

Note- After you have selected a date and test centre, you will have 20 minutes to complete your registration, or it will be cancelled.

The registration procedure for the paper version of the GRE general exam is the same as that of the computer version.

• Just like the computer version, you have to create an official account in the ETS website and provide your personal information. Select the subject test you are interested in, and then the registration procedure is similar to the GRE general exam.

On successful registration, you will receive a confirmation mail/e-mail whose copy needs to be carried on the test day to the test centre.
