What is the difference between microprocessor and microcontroller?

The microprocessor is an IC which has only the CPU inside them. These microprocessors don't have ROM, RAM, and other peripheral on the chip. The microcontroller has a CPU also with a fixed amount of RAM, ROM and other peripherals embedded on a single chip.
