Since the ratio between present ages of P and Q is 5:7

Hence the present ages of P and Q are 5x and 7x respectively. Where x is a constant.

Since present age of q = 7x

And age of P after 6 years = 5x + 6

According to question, difference between Q's present age and P's age after 6 years is 2

Hence the equation will be

7x - (5x+6) = 2 ,

⇒7x -5x -6 = 2

⇒ X = 4

Hence Present age of P is 5x = 5*4 = 20 years.

Present age of Q is 7x = 7*4 = 28 years.
