A covalent bond is a sharing of electrons. Some metals cannot transfer electrons and need an electron to get a stable position; they will continue to share them. Such sharing of electrons is known as a covalent bond. The case of carbon has 4 electrons in the outermost orbit, so it is not ready to give electrons. At the same time, it is needed another 4 electrons to get into the stable state. So these electrons will form a bond with hydrogen. It is also required for an electron to attain a steady state, thus forming a hydrocarbon.

This bond is made by sharing of electrons. It is weaker than an ionic bond. This bond is made only between two non-metals Carbon can make this bond because it needs a very large amount of energy to lose or gain 4 electrons for its outermost shell, which is not possible for it, making only a covalent...

That bond is formed by sharing of electrons. Covalent bonds are of three types: single, double,& triple bond. Carbon includes a long chain by the property of catenation in which they linked with another carbon atom with covalent bond and property of tetravalency.

When they share electron pair or bonding pair, the forces of attraction or repulsion between two atoms are called covalent bonding. Carbon has four electrons in its outer shell, giving it the ability to form innumerable molecules and bonds.

A covalent bond is a chemical bond in which electrons shared between two atoms. Carbon has four electrons in its outer shell has given it the ability to form innumerable molecules and bond; a covalent bond is a significantly stronger bond.

I hope you get your answer from earlier posts. I just want to add that it's not always equal sharing; it depends on the electron affinity of atoms. There is one more correction: due to hydrogen bonding in the water, you can find few compounds soluble in water like alcohols and ketones.

It is a chemical bond between two atoms when atoms share their electrons with another atom to make its outer orbit stable by completing it. Carbon has tetra valency that means it has four electrons in the outer orbit. To make it stable, it requires to gain or lose 4 electrons. So carbon atoms make the...

It is a chemical bond between two atoms when atoms share their electrons with another atom to make its outer orbit stable by completing it. Carbon has tetra valency that means it has four electrons in the outer orbit. To make it stable, it requires to gain or lose 4 electrons. So carbon atoms make the covalent bond with another carbon atom to share their electrons and made themselves stable. It is why carbon has so many elements and allotropes.
