The first step towards, IIT is a successful registration for the IIT-JEE exam and thereafter qualifying the IIT-JEE Mains exam. The next step is to earn a rank among the first 1,50,000 and crack the IIT-JEE Advanced exam.
From 2017, all Indian students must own their own Adhaar Card issued by UIDAI to apply for IIT JEE exam.
Applicants from the state of J&K, Assam & Meghalaya need to enter the passport number, ration card number, bank account number or any other valid Govt. identity number for successful IIT-JEE exam registration.
Applicants can begin their IIT JEE exam registration from the official website of JEE MAINS.

Students paying IIT JEE exam fees via credit card, will have to pay 1.20% of the examination fee and service fee.
Students paying IIT JEE exam fees via debit card, 0.75% + taxes for examination fee up to Rs. 2000 and 1% + taxes for examination fee more than Rs. 2000.
IIT-JEE exam fees can also be paid through e-Challan of Syndicate/Canara/ICICI/HDFC Bank.
For e-Challan payment mode, there are three banks – Syndicate/Canara/ICICI/HDFC. On successful payment, e-Challan contains all real details details of the candidate with amount to be paid. The candidate has to take a printout of the e-challan and take it to the nearest bank for successful payment. After the confirmation of IIT JEE exam fee deposited from the concerned bank/CBSE, the candidate will be able to print the Acknowledgment Page. In case the Acknowledgment Page is not generated, the candidate should contact the concerned bank/branch to update their respective transaction status.
One candidate is allowed to submit/apply for IIT-JEE exam only once. In case of multiple applications, they get rejected.

Candidates can select their examination center and date till a certain point of time. Later, they are placed randomly for IIT JEE exam.
