Srinivisan, you have asked a ' million dollar' question. Millions of students around the globe would give almost anything which can ensure Band 7 in all the modules but, my friend, there is no straight-forward solution. Yet- with 20 odd years behind me- I will try. What else can i do but TRY.

Let us start with Reading. There are 40 questions to be answered and to achieve Band 7, you need to get between 30-32 in th Academic version and 34-35 for General. For Listening, the requisite is 30-31.

Now, the strategy. In Reading, there are 10 to 12 types of questions. Do a SWOT analysis and keep practicing. Same applie for Listening.

The crunch comes in the Speaking and Writing modules. Very, very few people can be the judge of their own Speaking and Writing skills. So, its better to look for an experienced trainer.

But, there is a caveate. There are many examples of actual bands relating to Writing and these can help you. But, for Speaking, you have to rely on your confidence and ability to Speak English.
