A racing car has a uniform acceleration of 4 m s−2. What distance will it cover in 10 s after start?
Given data,
Initial velocity, u= 0m/s (body is starting from rest)
Time, t = 10s
Acceleration, a = 4ms-2
Distance covered, S,
S= ut + 1/2 at2
= 0 x 10 + 1/2 ( 4x10x10)
= 2x10x10
= 200m.
Thus, the distance travelled is 200m

An object has moved through a distance. Can it have zero displacement? If yes, support your answer with an example?
Yes, if an object has moved through a distance, it can have zero displacement.
This is true if the initial position of the body and final position of the body are the same.
Consider a man moving from point A to point B , covering a distance of 10m.
If he returns to point A , the distance travelled by him will be 2x10m but his displacement is zero as there is no possiblity of the shortest path as the final and initial positions are the same.

Given data
Initial velocity, u = 0 m/s
Acceleration , a= 0.1m/S2
Time, t = 2min= 120s
Speed acquired,
v= u +at
= 0+ 0.1x120
= 12m/s.
The speed acquired is 12m/s
Distance travelled,
S= ut + 1/2at2
= 0 + 1/2 ( 0.1x120x120)
= 0.1x120x60
= 720m
The distance travelled is 720m.
