Teaching Experience in detail in IELTS Coaching classes

As a British Council certified trainer, I coach both students as well as professionals for the Academic and General Training modules of IELTS. Due to the pandemic, all sessions are online now. Sessions are either one-on-one or a small group of 2-3 participants only, which enables me to provide individual attention, and is beneficial to the participants as well to derive optimal benefit from the coaching. All my assessment and feedback w.r.t speaking and writing sections are on an individual basis. The training is customised to the requirements of each individual. Since IELTS is a proficiency test, I believe it is vital to assist students on a daily basis in order to enhance their listening, reading, speaking and writing abilities in multiple ways and my training inputs strive to do so. I believe that the guidance for an exam is incomplete without inputs till the very end, so I aid all my students for up to 3 weeks even after the training. So, overall, it's a 2-month training programme. My students have been successful in achieving their target scores of Band 7 and above and have eventually migrated to different countries as per their aspirations.

Teaching Experience in detail in Spoken English classes

As a British Council certified IELTS and Business English Trainer, I have been coaching students and professionals for a decade now. The age group of my students have ranged from 17 to 40 year-olds. Helping them with their grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation was part of my teaching. My students have even scored Band 9 in the Speaking section of the IELTS exam. Their testimonials can be checked out in my profile. Along with getting their desired IELTS score, they have been able to become confident speakers in their workplace and daily lives. I am now extending this experience to Spoken English outside of the exam format and business communication to help anyone keen on improving their English language skills. They will be customised one-on-one online sessions to cater to their needs, whether at work, school, college or just for social interactions.

IELTS Academic and General Training - Online classes Paper to attempt:IELTS General (If you want to move to an English-speaking country for work or immigration)

"I recently completed a series of IELTS tutorials within a short timeframe, and I am thoroughly impressed with the quality of the training provided by Priya. The meticulous attention to detail in each session was remarkable. She provided ample resources to address specific problem areas in the language, which greatly aided my preparation. Their comprehensive approach ensured that I was well-equipped to tackle the various components of the IELTS exam. I've taken IELTS from Priya twice: once for the IELTS Academic in order to obtain a student visa, and again for the IELTS General section in order to extend my visa. Overall, the tutorials were highly effective and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to excel in their IELTS test. "

"I subscribed to Priya Ji's classes to inform my IELTS GT writing score. Previous score in writing section was 6 or 6.5 in 2021 ( from India). After attending classes , my score in writing section improved to 7 ( in March 2024, appeared From Canada. I thank Priya Ji for her consistent involvement and follow ups. She is honest but is very demanding. I used to attend classes at my Canadian midnight and after day long tiring work schedules it was hard on me to catch up with numerous assignments. I attended 3 classes per week for consecutive 4 weeka. Each class was for 1.5-2 hours. Some of exercises we dis were utterly boring and monotonous and I didnot find value in many of the assignments bit a few assignments were good. Overall, she is a good coach but she did broke some of my myths on the maximum number of words in task 2. Also on the use of prepositions, proper grammer and use of correct English words. She is honest and very hard working. She was serious on my studies more than me. She used to treat me like a school student but infact I am professional working full time for 15 years and I have a family and a kid. She used to give me lomg assignments and expected me to completed in few hours before the midnight classes. I think that was not fair. Many times I felt frustrated when she used to make me feel guilty but then my husband motivated me to keep attending classes to learn the useful things and ignore what was disturbing me. So I kept on for 4 weeks "

First of all, you signed up for a particular time slot and since we are in different time zones and you are working, a late night slot was what was workable for you. For anyone who signs up and comes to me for a band score of 7 in writing, I make it very clear that it’s not going to be easy. For you, staying up late at night for every session must have been challenging, but then, you were aware that it is a 2 hour session that you signed up for. As for this - "She used to treat me like a school student but infact I am professional working full time for 15 years and I have a family and a kid ",anyone who comes to me is my student, irrespective of age or profession and it is my job to help them achieve what they have come to me for. My approach and lessons vary with each participant, depending on their language proficiency. It is shocking that you’ve chosen to word this feedback as disappointing overall on a public platform whereas in all your personal conversations with me, you were profusely praising my classes and how it helped you. I am quoting your texts : "You have been a great help, I was thinking about your lessons while attempting writing section. I wish I could send something over to your place. I will see if some travelling to Bangalore. I will ask you what would like from here. You are amazing. If I can achieve 7 then I am sure achieving 9 with your lessons for a dedicated student is not tough at all."

IELTS Academic and General Training - Online classes

"Due to my application deadlines, I was in need of an IETLS crash course. My sister recommended Priya as she had a wonderful experience preparing for test with her along with getting a high score. Although my time with Priya was very limited (around 14 hours), she was incredibly dedicated and helped me score an overall 7. I was diagnosed with dengue in the middle for which she was very understanding. Once I had recovered even though she had health issues and had a lot of work, she helped me prepare for the test within short period of time in order for me to be able to submit my application on time. She is a very hardworking person and aims for all her students to receive a high score. I highly recommend her to anyone taking the IETLS. "

Hi Kishore, The writing section of the IELTS exam is the trickiest. Listening and Reading have 40 questions with 40 marks and specific question types. So if you are familiar with the types of questions and practice well, they aren't difficult. Speaking and Writing sections do not have marks. Each of the them have 4 assessment criteria which examiners evaluate on and band scores are given for each of the 4 and then averaged out to a final band score for the section. There are 2 writing tasks that need to be completed in the Writing section. So it's important that both tasks fulfill the assessment parameters. The examiners are looking to see if you address all parts of the question, write the adequate number of words for each task, if your writing is coherent and your arguments logically sequenced with a good range of vocabulary and grammatical accuracy. So, in order to score well, one needs to be aware of how writing is assessed and practice accordingly. Consistent effort is required to improve vocabulary and eliminate grammatical errors and write complex sentences for a band score of 7 and above.

Become familiar with the type of questions that are asked in the passages - sentence completion, multiple choice, identifying the writers view(yes, no, not given), identifying information (true, false, not given), choosing paragraph headings, diagram label completion etc. Also, it's a good idea to skim and scan through passages to save time, instead of reading the section completely and then attempting answers. Do not linger too much in a section as there is no negative marking for wrong answers. Finally, reading skills improve if you read up on a variety of topics outside of your IELTS practice lessons. It aids in your writing section as well.
