You can easily access the syllabus of the CBSE class10 from the official website. NCERT app will also provide complete material in pdf format. Any chapter we can teach but make sure that each lesson started with the basics of class9 and enter into the class10 syllabus. Yes, notes we have to give but easily understandable to the students in a short and precise manner.

Carbon has the atomic number 6 as it has an electronic configuration of 1s2 2s2 2p2. It has 4 electrons in the valence shell, and thus, to form a bond, it has to either donate its 4 electrons or accept it according to the octet rule to attain stability.
The donation or acceptance of 4 electrons is a tough process because it requires energy absorption or release. That is why carbon can have 4 electrons only by sharing electrons to attain stability.
So carbon can only form covalent bonds. But there also exists some compounds with ionic bond like aluminium carbide, calcium carbide etc.
