The best way to improve in any field is practice and only practice. When it comes to English, read as much as you can. It might be intimidating initially, but with sheer determination, you will improve at every step. Whenever you see a new word, look it up and make a note of it. Read the daily newspaper. Eventually, you'll learn and be good at it.
