A covalent bond is formed due to sharing of electrons between elements. For such a bond to establish, a pair of electrons are required. Due to this sharing, the orbits of both elements overlap. This bond is present in non-metals only. Carbon is a non-metal which can share all 4 electrons from its outermost orbit; therefore, carbon is compatible with the bond formation with so many other elements making it a versatile one. The four covalent bonding positions of the carbon atom give rise to a wide variety of compounds.

For such quick learners, it might be tough to make them sit and learn something. Try engaging him in board puzzles and mind games. Clay modelling can make him sit for a few hours. If he learns quick, give him some life skill activity like folding his clothes or tying his shoelace.
