To get a band of 7 in IELTS, you need to be good at all the four modules, listening, writing, speaking and reading. It also depends on your current command over English. Start your preparation for the exam, at least four months prior. Practice one module in a month and move on to the next one. Read the newspapers and other books which is going to improve your vocabulary. Since each module has a time constraint, you'll have to practice every day and try to complete the module within that particular time. This is going to increase your pace and decrease the possibility of making mistakes.
