"I have been learning English communication from Neelam since Feb '23. She is an excellent trainer with a lot of knowledge. She had analyzed me before starting the class and she created a tailor-made program for me. She said clearly that the magic will not happen in a 15- or 20-hours class. Learning is a continuous process, you must put your effort until you get it. Each session includes the reading practice, knowledge checking questionnaires from what I had been reading, asking questions, conversations, and home tasks for writing. She gives her 100% attention during reading. Generally, I do make mistakes while reading (I never observe the plural word “s” and “es”). She corrects me every time with a smile. I would say 1000 thanks to her for this alone. She asks questions and waits for the answers. She never gives a choice of words/clue for answers and waits for it until the best answers (correct words in correct places). She knows how to take the answer from learners. She conducts the class using powerpoint slides. Each session, she drives 4 to 5 slides and the learners to read and answer all the questions. For me, the first one week, I did not understand the pattern and got worried about the learning. Then, the magic worked slowly, and I noticed the changes in me. Now, I’m good (not perfect, still learning) at speaking and writing in English. Still a long way to go. Thank you, Neelam, for your continuous effort and taking the classes for me in your busy schedule. I will recommend English communication classes from Neelam to those who want real changes. Trust me, the magic will work for you with your effort and help from Neelam."

In order to understand why smart work works better than hard work for any competitive exam, its important that we understand the difference between smart work and hard work.
My experience with both smart and hard work says that when work is done consistently it’s called hard work and when work is done consistently to achieve a clearly defined goal broken into small steps after studying a pattern of doing it in the easiest and fastest way, it’s called smart work.
People who crack competitive exams, not just remain consistent in their preparation, they set a clear goal, stick to a study schedule, and break down their preparation into studying and mastering those topics which are sure to be asked in the exam and develop a strong revision plan. So, the reason they are able to crack the exam is that before taking any action, they sit, analyse and study the pattern which other achievers have followed to crack the same examination and that’s how they too are able to achieve the same result.
So, now we know why smart work works better than hard work and it’s not just for cracking competitive exams it applies to every principle of human life.
Hard work done for a clearly defined goal with a strong plan made after observing and studying the winners’ strategies, can help anyone get the same results.

Since you say that the child does not have an English speaking environment, what you can do is, let the child perform simple tasks in English that appear like fun games to him. Children are curious by nature. You can inculcate the habit of listening to him by either reading stories or helping him watch cartoons in English.

Any skill, be it riding a bicycle, driving a car or speaking a language, is learnt by following a simple and step by step technique which involves the following steps - 1st Observe, 2nd understand 3rd do, 4th make mistakes, 5th correct the mistakes 6th repeat the process of doing the act. Now, apply the same principle to learning communication skills. First, observe people with good communication skills, what kind of language they use, what they do to continuously improve their skills, understand their style and knowledge, and slowly start practising those skills by implementing them on a real-time basis. Make mistakes, seek a learned mentor who can rectify them, correct them, redo the exercise and with the repetition of this cycle, you will not just improve in the communication but also excel in it.
