Ions are the molecular species which are not neutral. Ions are of two types -
Cations - which are positively charged means they contain more number of protons than electrons. You can easily identify them due to the presence of a positive charge. Since charge can be shown easily. As - Ag+, Na+ etc.
Anions - which are negatively charged means they contain less number of protons than electrons. You can easily identify them due to the presence of a negative charge. As - Cl-, Br- etc.
