Larger angle X Smaller angle Y We have X+Y=180..(1) larger angle exceeds thrice smaller by 20 ∴X=3Y+20..(2) Solving (1)&(2) X+Y=180 X-3Y=20 4Y=160⇒Y=40... smaller angle ∴larger angle X=140 Tq.

Larger angle X

Smaller angle Y

We have X+Y=180..(1)

larger angle exceeds thrice  smaller by 20

∴X=3Y+20..(2)

Solving (1)&(2)

X+Y=180

X-3Y=20

4Y=160⇒Y=40... smaller angle

∴larger angle X=140

Tq.

If smaller angle =X , then larger = 3X +20 . so X + 3X +20 = 180 , or 4X +20 = 180 or 4X = 160, then X = 40 smaller angle ,and larger angle =140 , answer

Let x and y be Larger angle and smaller angle of two suplimentary angles respectively I.e., x+y=180 also given x-3y=20 Now solving (x+y)-(x-3y)=180-20 4y=160 Y=160/4=40 X=180-40=140

x=3y+20 and x+y=180. So, y=40 and x= 140

Two angle are supplementary, hence the sum of two angles is 180deg. Let the larger angle be A, then the other angle will be 180-A As given, A=3(180-A)+20 A=540-3A+20 4A = 560 A=140 Hence, the larger angle is 140deg and the smaller angle is 40deg. A = 72.5
