A covalent bond shares electrons between two atoms to form a bond so that both atoms, one who needed the electron to get stable, are also satisfied. The atom with an extra electron shares it without having to lose onto its electron. It is a unique property of carbon as it can have three carbon atoms sharing one electron establishing a very stable and strong bond. That is, triple covalent bonds and carbon mostly bond covalently only.
