[H3O+] = 3.8 x 10-3
pH = – log [H3O+] = – log (3.8 x 10-3)
= – (log 3.8 – 3 log 10)
= – log 3.8 + 3.0 = – 0.589 + 3 = 2.42
The pH of a sample of soft drink whose hydronium ion concentration is 3.8 x 10-3M is equal to 2.42

(A) q + w = ΔU. As ΔU is a state function, hence q + w is a state function.
(B) An ideal crystal has a perfect order of its constituent particles while a real crystal has less order because of some defects. Therefore, a real crystal has more entropy than an ideal crystal.

Modern periodic law was put forward by Moseley, student of Roentgen. According to him "The properties of elements and their compounds are periodic functions of their increasing atomic numbers". He arranged elements in periodic table in increasing order of their atomic numbers. It was found successful due to number of reasons and the most important was the position of isotopes as they are nuclei with same atomic numbers so they were placed under the same elements to which they belong. This law also led to the discovery of many new elements.
