UGC NET Syllabus 2019 for Paper 1
The questions in Paper-I are mainly on general knowledge and research aptitude, as it is intended to test the teaching and research capabilities of a candidate. Along with these, candidates’ cognitive abilities like comprehension, analysis, understanding the structure of arguments and deductive, evaluation and inductive reasoning are also measured. UGC NET candidates should be aware of their surroundings like the interaction between people, environment and natural resources and their impact on lives.
Below table will explain the distribution of marks in each category.

Note:
Each section has 5 questions, each of which carries 2 marks. Hence 10 marks from each section.
There is no negative marking in the exam.
Paper-I has 50 questions in a total of 100 marks within a duration of 1 hour.
