Principles of management are the set of fundamental guidlines, rules, procedure that lets a company run a smooth business; help the management in decision making process. To be more specific, these guide the management in terms of planning, organizing, controlling the operations including money, people, material, machines, markets & the correct way/method to do an activity/task.
Principles of management are provided by 2 people namely F. W. Taylor (Father of Scientific Management) & Henry Fayol (Father of General/Modern Management).
Following are the Scientific Principles of Management given by Frederick Winslow Taylor (F. W. Taylor):
1. Science, Not Rule of Thumb
2. Harmony, Not Discord
3. Cooperation, Not Individualism
4. Development of each and every person to his/her greatest efficiency
Following are the 14 principles of management given by Henry Fayol:
1. Division of Work
2. Authority and Responsibility
3. Discipline
4. Unity of Command
5. Unity of Direction
6. Subordination of Individual Interest
7. Remuneration
8. Centralization
9. Scalar Chain
10. Order
11. Equity
12. Stability
13. Initiative
14. Esprit de Corps.
To conclude, these principles stand to be the pillars of an organisation; supporting the planning, organizig, controlling, coordination & decision making.
