Apache OpenOffice is one of the good office suites available in the market but not only the one.
There are few others as well like-
1. LibreOffice
2. Google Docs, Sheets and Slides
3. Microsoft Office Online
4. WPS Office Free
5. Polaris Office
6. SoftMaker FreeOffice
7. Open365
8. Zoho Workplace
However, choosing the right suite for your totally depends upon how and what is your usage/application.
If you are a basic user and looking for basic operations then Open Office is a better option as its an open source. If you are looking for working with macro files then MS Office is the only reliable option as you will get lot of VBA codes for free of cost in online forums from various developers out there.
