Thirdly as its said one can't learn swimming sitting on the bank..similarly you can't learn unless you start speaking. Most people are afraid due to the comments from the people around them. Learning English, written or written, can be a daunting task for a newcomer. This is because English has no consistent set of grammatical rules unlike the Indian Sanskrit based languages and other languages like German, Spanish, etc. To a Hindi or some other native speaker, English words can get sometimes confusing as they can mean diffeent things in different contexts. For example, "flour" (atta) can sound the same as "flower". The only way you can get a hang of spoken English is through practice and watching lots and lots of English movies, preferrably with the subtitles off.
