For abroad, Spanish at 1st , owning to the fact that more than 20 countries speak spanish, it is the second most spoken in the world and it's industry is on a rise.

Hello Manish, The selection of any language depends upon what you want to do with it in future whether you want to take up profession as travel guide or anything related to travel or get into teaching as language teacher or as translator / interpreter or any other profession which requires us to have knowledge of atleast 1 foreign language. I think it is really difficult to rate any language as no 1 no 2 etc because each language has its own unique identity and beauty. Spanish is spoken in 21 countries, French in 8 countries, German in 2 countries,etc. What is your age if you are still in your 20s like 24 years or 25 years then you can try learning all languages because at that age like 23 -24 there are many people learning french as well as spanish. Dear Manish, Since you are a Commerce Graduate and also would like to know which Foreign language(besides english) will be in demand in India and Abroad I would like to state the Following:- 1) In my opinion French should be the First option for the following reasons:- There are a number of Industries(French Companies) which have invested in India spanning :-- -Automobiles(RENAULT ; Cars like Duster ,Kwid:; MICHELIN Tyres), - Manufacturing ( Saint Gobain), -Infrastructure (Metro Rail;Alstom, - Hospitality(ACCOR HOTELS) etc., -These companies have several openings in India and abroad especially in western Africa and knowing French will be an advantage. - Secondly there are possibiliies of Emigration to Canada and knowledge of French and passing of Eligibilty (language ) Criteria will be advantageous - Thirdly Knowing French can make it easier to learn Spanish,Italian 2) the second most relevant language would be Spanish as the Americas (including USA) have a sizeable Spanish Speaking Population 3) I would rate German equally with Spanish for the job opportunities in India at Present.(lot of German Industries in Automobiles,Household appliance,Manufacturing) 4) Do not forget Chinese...But you would need to do some serious study and a Chines Translator/Interpreter is in great Demand 5) Arabic which was at a peak during the Gulf boom is a bit on the decline but a specialist is stiil in demand 6) LAST BUT NOT LEAST ` ENGLISH' is still the the Premier Language internationally... read less
