Khadi had a strong fascination to all walks of Life .fresh from Independance Struggle in earlier British Raj ..and a SYMBOL of our Father of the Nation .. Mahatma gandhi , nehru ,Patel , and whole lot of other who shed blood tears . imprisonment , torture ,and sweat of common man & the intelligentsia.....

Khadi had a strong fascination to all walks of Life .fresh from Independance Struggle in earlier British Raj ..and a SYMBOL of our Father of the Nation .. Mahatma gandhi , nehru ,Patel , and whole lot of other who shed blood tears . imprisonment , torture ,and sweat of common man & the intelligentsia.. after 1950-56. its power of Khdi waned off , with Jawaharlal nehru wanted & gave importance to large Industries. use of modern science & technology ..Khadi was reduced to a village & very tiny small scale industry in 1960's & in 1970's ..It was not a sign of our HARD FOUGHT FREEDOM ..but a part of our Industrial thrust in Industrial policy ot be started in rural & poorer sections lived .. a cheap affordable mode of cloth ..but now later years it is being exported to western 7 eastern countries but cannot compete with modern Mill cloth , Terene ,and terri cotton products ..products of Corporate India in 1980s & 1990's ..People have moved veyr much away from Khadi weaving & khadi cloth except it is bread winner of teeming poor .small ,and rural parts of India in 2000-18 ,, today it is a part of export earner of Khadi products in west & in east too in world. but indian youth , middle classes have move better cotton & terrene varieties in modern India..Dr K S Velmurugan Pondicherry
