What is the difference between vinyasa and hatha yoga?

Hatha yoga is practiced at a slower pace, with focus on the breath, controlled movements, and stretching. Vinyasa yoga focuses on connecting the breath to your movements, which tend to be set at a faster pace.

How can Iyengar yoga help?

Iyengar yoga encourages us to become better acquainted with the breath and develop the body to support better breathing. It is impossible to breath deeply and well with a collapsed body posture so we learn how to strengthen the spine, broaden and deepen the chest to made good breathing possible.

Many people enjoy the thorough, detailed teaching approach which emphasises correct alignment, making it a safe and accessible method for all body types. Is Chaturanga part of the original Hatha yoga?

Chaturanga is part of the very old sequence of danda exercises practiced by Indian wrestlers and other fitness trainers since ancient times. But Hatha Yoga was not adapted for the purpose of physical exercise until the 1900s, mainly by Tirumalai Krishnamacharya and his pupils Pattabhi Jois and B.K.S.... ...more
Chaturanga is part of the very old sequence of danda exercises practiced by Indian wrestlers and other fitness trainers since ancient times. But Hatha Yoga was not adapted for the purpose of physical exercise until the 1900s, mainly by Tirumalai Krishnamacharya and his pupils Pattabhi Jois and B.K.S. Iyengar. It was probably them who added Chaturanga to Hatha Yoga
