As the old proverb says "Practice makes a man perfect". Becoming a Master in Mathematics is no different either. However to achieve that a good mentor plays an important role too who can give you guidance in achieving the goal with minimal time and effort. Both Magnitude and Direction are essential.

The first and foremost thing is to look out for a good Mentor who can guide you to look at a bigger picture and give you an overall understanding. A practical approach to learning. How to filter out information and which specific areas to focus upon. How to achieve the best outcome with minimal effort.
Once you get the direction then it is all about practice and discipline. There is no alternative for practice. You can improve only when you practice and time management.
