Position vector determines how far and in which direction a vector lies concerning the coordinate axis chosen. In the other hand, displacement vector gives the shortest possible distance between the initial and final point. Position vector can be thought of as a particular case of displacement vector where the initial point is always the origin of the reference frame from which measurement is being done.
Another essential thing to note is displacement vector is an actual vector because it does not depend on the reference frame from which the particle is observed, unlike position vector, which depends on the origin chosen.
