You have two options if you don't get the desired result. 1. Reappear for the test after working on your weak areas. 2. Apply for a re-evaluation which costs money and takes about 6 weeks.

The ILETS exam is not as easy as you think. No matter how hard you study, you will still not get the desired score in some cases. When this happens, you have two options to consider: take a retest or apply for reevaluation in case you're not sure about the score you got.

So, if you're going for the latter option, you will be required to fill an 'Enquiry on results' form. You can select which section you want to reevaluate — either one section or all, the cost will be the same and so is the time. However, the drawback will be that rescoring an exam will cost you almost the same as taking up a retest. It can take around 20 days to get your answers reevaluated.

If you're wondering why the fee is so high for a reevaluation, then it is because of these reasons:

  1. Your test scores will be sent to the UK, and you will fulfil the transport charges.
  2. Your test scores will be reevaluated by an IELTS examiner who has previously reevaluated multiple papers. Hence, having him/her to reevaluate will result in him doing the work all over again. Therefore, he is paid a certain amount to run through the process again.
  3. Once reevaluated, the scores will be couriered back to you, and a new TRF will be printed and couriered to you. You will bear the cost of all these things.
  4. If reevaluation were free of charge, a lot of candidates would consider it. That would be a massive burden to the British Council.
