If you have got 6.5 band in writing, it means that you are very close to band 7 and you have already got band 7 in 50% of the scoring criteria. For example, 7 for task response, 7 for organisation of the topic, but 6 for grammar and 6 for vocabulary. Just a small improvement in one area can take you to band 7 overall (e.g. 7,7,7,6 = band 7).
