IELTS Academic Test and General Test are now available in both versions, i.e. Paper-based as well as Computer-delivered. The number of questions, timing, format, scoring, everything is still the same for both Computer-based and paper-based IELTS.
The only noticeable difference is that in the paper-based IELTS, test takers are given ten minutes of extra time in the listening section, but, in the computer-based test, you would not be getting spare time. However, candidates are allowed to check the answers within and between the parts.
Having stated that there is no difference in acceptance of the score worldwide. Every university accepts IELTS score (it really doesn’t matter whether it is paper-based or computer-based). If you’re willing to take up this test, then you would be free to choose any version without any hesitation.
In the computer-based test, the computer will be more accessible, and if one has a good speed in typing. This format excludes the problem of handwriting.
Paper-based IELTS is for those who are not comfortable working on a computer or sitting in front of a computer screen or someone who finds it difficult to type. Towards the end, both IELTS paper-based and computer-based are accepted everywhere.
All the best!
