Dear Candidate,
IELTS speaking test sounds simple, but it sometimes gets very tricky!
Just focus on the points given below to make things easier for yourself.
Daily Practice: Start talking on any random topic every day. Set a timetable and every 3 hours, pick an issue and start chatting on it.
Chit Box exercise: Ask a friend or your IELTS teacher to make 100 chits of various random topics. Keep them in a box and every 3 hours take out a chit and start talking on it.
Now, the question arises, How can I start talking without knowing what I have to speak?
Well, for this, you need to have good cognitive skills of making instant content to speak on a particular topic. If you lack in such skills, follow necessary steps:
1. Pick an issue, take pen and paper and jot down a few points before you start speaking.
2. Make sure you think deep and figure out all possibilities. Try to think of everything related to that topic.
3. Have your points properly laid down so that there is a proper intro, then body and lastly, a good ending.
Example:
Talk about maps:
- Think of everything that comes to your mind about maps.
- Do you think about maps studied at school?. Well, there is much more to it!
Maps can be of different types:
- Roadmaps, Hotel maps, Maps of Buildings, maps that are used at tourist sites, architectural maps, Metro Maps. Well, the list is long. Think of as many as you can.
- Try to talk of the complete list in the beginning and then give a short description of each, their relevance, where have you used maps etc.
- End it by either giving a suggestion or future of maps.
- It is essential to scratch our brains and thinks about all possibilities that can fit in our content.
Essential points for Speaking test:
