The Mumbai based autonomous agency Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) conducts exam for recruitment for the position of Probationary Officer (PO) in banks. The same exam also hires Management Trainees for banks and other organizations.
The first step of IBPS PO exam is the Common Written Exam (CWE) and to register for this applicants has to begin from CWE PO/MT VI in the official IBPS website.
The IBPS PO exam has three phases – CWE/Prelims, Mains Exam and Interview. Students who qualify the first CWE/prelims session are shortlisted for the IBPS PO mains exam. The IBPS PO interview session is conducted and coordinated by nodal bank.

The gross salary of an IBPS PO officer is Rs. 5, 57, 640 (approx) including allowances like HRA, medical aid, telephone, canteen subsidy,travel allowance, transport allowance, CCA, DA and so on.

An applicant must have the following citizenship/nationality in order to apply for IBPS PO exam –
(i) a Citizen of India or
(ii) a subject of Nepal or
(iii) a subject of Bhutan or
(iv) a Tibetan Refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently
settling in India or
(v) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India, provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) & (v) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.
Age criteria for IBPS PO exam:
An applicant must be between 20 – 30 years of age in order to apply for IBPS PO exam.

Academic qualification criteria for IBPS PO exam
Only graduates with degree mark sheets and certificates can apply for IBPS PO exam. Note, during online registration students have to put in their score percentile of graduation exam. The photocopy of the graduation mark sheet/certificate needs to be submitted during IBPS Interview session.
For IBPS PO exam, Pre-examination training is conducted by participating banks/nodal banks. This is mainly to help underprivileged candidates. The IBPS Pre-examination centres are located in the following cities:

Students who appear for IBPS Prelims and Mains exam has to carry the following documents to exam center:
a) Valid Call Letter issued by IBPS that mentions the date, day, time and venue of IBPS PO exam
b) Original Photo ID Proof
c) Photo copy of photo id proof
Negative marking in IBPS PO exam
There is provision of negative marking in IBPS PO exam. For each wrong answer a student gives, 0.25 marks is deducted from their total score. Hence, be careful when you make guess works or assumptions in the IBPS PO exam.
Note, in IBPS PO exam, only the marks scored in the mains exam is considered for interview and final placement process.
The IBPS interview round is held in all states across India jointly administered by participating banks, nodal banks and IBPS. To know your allotted IBPS interview center, please download your Call Letter from the IBPS official website (www.ibps.in).
The total marks allotted for IBPS PO interview session is 100 and the minimum qualifying mark is 40%. For SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates, the qualifying marks is 35 %.
The weightage (ratio) of IBPS PO Mains exam and interview is 80:20 respectively.

b) Signature in complete capital letters are not accepted by IBPS.

Steps for online registration of IBPS PO exam
Browse the official website of IBPS.
Click on the homepage of the IBPS official website and open the link CWE PO/MT and then click on – CLICK HERE TO APPLY ONLINE FOR CWE PROBATIONARY
OFFICERS/ MANAGEMENT TRAINEES (CWE-PO/MT-VI).
This will open the IBPS PO/MT exam application form.
Next, click on “CLICK HERE FOR NEW REGISTRATION” .
Fill up all blank and details with right spelling and data.
Upload digital photograph and signature.
On completing filling up the IBPS PO/MT application form click on “SAVE AND NEXT”. Now, go through the entire data submitted by you and cross check. Make changes or alterations if required.
After this you have to click “FINAL SUBMIT”. Note, once you click final submit, you cannot edit your data further more.
IBPS PO/MT exam fees need to be paid in online mode. The online payment modes are Debit Cards (RuPay/Visa/MasterCard/Maestro), Credit Cards, Internet Banking,
IMPS, Cash Cards/ Mobile Wallets. You can pick anyone.
IBPS sends each applicant their admit cards three weeks prior to both prelims, mains and interview session. Do download the admit cards and get their hard copy on the day of your IBPS PO exam.
The IBPS PO Prelims results are declared in a week. For mains exam, IBPS declares the results in a span of two weeks. All results are published in the IBPS official website in PDF form, with name of the candidate and their scored marks.
Tips to crack IBPS PO exam
a) The standard of IBPS PO exam is considered tough and requires ample advance preparation. Its therefore advised to start your IBPS PO exam preparation keeping enough time in hand so that you don’t fall short of time and mess your performance on the exam day.
b) Alike any other IBPS exam, mock tests and solving previous years papers are a mandate in order to crack the IBPS exam. You need to gather study materials and references from online websites or offline sources and make sure, you are used to the IBPS PO exam curriculum before the exam day.
c) IBPS PO is one of the few exam of IBPS that has three rounds to crack. Note, when you are preparing for prelims, don’t bother about mains. Again keep your focus only on mains before you think about the last interview round. This will help you to plan each round of IBPS PO exam individually, handle them with care and thus score good.
d) The online registration, document download, admit card download – all notifications and updates about IBPS PO exam are shared from IBPS end, only in their official website. So once you register for IBPS PO exam, make sure everyday you browse their website once for updates and announcements.
