Learn guitar within 6 months using the techniques I will provide you from my 10 years of experience
I’m sure there are many who will disagree with me on this, but here’s my take being a guitar player with the ability to play a little piano:
Piano has an easier learning curve to start but it’s hard to master.
While piano requires finger dexterity and rhythm, it doesn’t require the same strength and callouses that guitar playing demands.
Piano lays out all of your notes in a linear fashion, and color codes your sharps and flats, making it easier to visualize and learn.
In my humble opinion, music theory, chords, scales, and even sight reading are easier to learn on piano first.
Guitar has a steeper learning curve to start, but is probably similar in difficulty as the piano to master.
Playing guitar for the first couple of weeks is going to hurt. You’ll need to develop callouses on your fretting fingers in order to play without pain for more than 10 minutes or so.
You’ll need to develop strength and the ability to fret properly before any of your notes, let alone chords, are going to sound correct, making piano easier to produce proper sounding notes at first.
A guitar’s notes are linear when played on one string, but when you look at the stacked strings they mostly start on different notes when using the standard guitar tuning , and thus it’s harder to visualize/memorize what notes you’re playing.
Due to the strength and flexibility required to play certain chord shapes on a guitar, it’s more difficult to play some chords (barre, 7th, 9th, 11th, & 13th chords) and their various voicings.
