capo is a device used to clamp the strings to raise the tuning of the guitar. i.e if your guitar is in Eb (E FLAT) tuning and you place the capo on the first fret, you guitar would be at E standard tuning :)

Every fret you move down changes the note by half a step. let's say your guitar is standard tuned. EBGDAE. If you place the capo on the first fret, your tuning becomes FCG#D#A#F. Capo on second fret makes it F#C#AEBF# and so on Similarly normal shaped chords also increase by half a note. With capo on fret 1, holding standard A chord will sound like an A# and so on. read less
