Overview

Playing the guitar started off as a hobby and quickly turned into my passion. I picked up my first guitar at the age of eleven and haven't looked back since.

It was an arduous journey, mainly because I didn't have a mentor and did a lot of learning on my own. Now that I'm great at it I have devised a systematic approach that incorporates the very important and mostly ignored theory of music along with the playing itself.

I know the answer will hurt you nut yes, you will have trouble holding chords if your nails are long.

Yes. Practice more. It gets better and stops hurting on its own. Kind of like when you hit the gym for the first time and have a body ache that eventually stops happening as you work out more. same same.

When you begin this usually happens. The tips the fingertips of your chord hold holding hand develops ridges and hurts. This is normal. Take a break only if the pain is unbearable. If it is unbearable pain YES TAKE A BREAK. If it hurts but you can still hold chords then power through the pain. It's the... ...more

If it is unbearable pain YES TAKE A BREAK. If it hurts but you can still hold chords then power through the pain. It's the only way to get your fingers to get used to it.

Of course you can. There are many ways to improvise and you can always try switching over the chord holding hand.

Yes. Mark Knopfler say "plectrums are the simplest amplifiers". Using them with acoustic guitars gives louder and crispier sound.
