• Understanding the topic from the basic is what a student should know. Here is the thing, whenever you are starting with a new topic, try to search first why is studying that topic important, where can you apply the concept of that topic in your life what all more should you learn. 
• Try to ask some questions from people who are around you; if you don't get the answer, try to contact the expert in the field.
• Otherwise, if your mind is good at learning new ideologies, try to ask yourself that question, search for it wherever you can find about it.
• Try to manage your time, if you are not getting any topic, try to give it more time than the rest of the topics. Never mug the concept. 

Why? How? Are the basic questions, try to ask yourself and search for it more. The more you will ask, the more you will gain and the more you will enjoy.
