From my limited knowledge, Flute requires one to master their blowing technique which itself will take a good amount of time. Then coming to songs, a prior carnatic vocal training is a good catalyst while learning an instrument. Moreover, accumulation of knowledge is not only in the hands of a guru as the student must take equal efforts by listening to concerts and music to advance to greater levels. read less
