Everything goes good with knowledge of both theory and practical. If you know the dance form, if you are clear about the basics, foundation and movement, feel the heat pop of the music and body flow and movement. You need to play the button and start practising; hardly 3-6 months with the everyday practice of min 4 years will make you become a properly animated popper. But yes, it will take years of practice to become a popping artist from a dancer.

It entirely depends on your dedication to the art form. Just consistency and passion are two key things that will keep you on your toe. Find good teachers, not good dancers, because many good dancers are not good teachers and to each of their own. Focus on body conditioning and foundation while training. Also, learn about musicality and the history of the dance style while learning.
Good Luck! :)
