Steps:
- Get command on fluency in speaking.
- Read newspapers/articles out loud.
- Practice conversations in the preferred language.
- Read a lot to have good points to make and understand sentence formation.
- Always think and speak and don't blabber when asked a question.

Firstly, one should have a mindset/intention to communicate to express his ideas and thoughts to others rather than have a fear of being judged. Be a good listener and show that you are interested in the conversation and also learn to empathise. These two are the necessary steps as per my analysis. Once you work on these two; understand your audience, and communicate according to the knowledge and skill set of the audience, avoid jargons—crisp and clear communication rather than beating around the bush. Develop the habit of rephrasing or re-clarifying. Most importantly practice these skills with conscious efforts to improve your communication skills.

Anybody can work on their communication skill from scratch to become an effective communicator. It is like how you learn a new skill like riding a bicycle or a car or using a mobile device.
Two things are essential Interest and Involvement. If you are strong in the basics of any language, it is enough for you to become an effective communicator. Language proficiency alone will not make us an effective communicator; it is more than that.

Working on all skills simultaneously will help someone to achieve this goal. A lot of listening followed by reading will give excellent exposure to the language. It will have to be accompanied by brushing of essential grammar topics as well as vocabulary enhancement activities. Then a lot of speaking in the form of conversation and the communication will be completed through writing skill development.

Hi Sharad, communication skill depends on the confidence towards the content what you are going to deliver and to whom. For that, the powerful tool is to gather most information as possible through reading, listening and speaking to relevant people with the same knowledge. And to have a long-lasting presentation, one should be easily understood by the target audience. Keep your language simple, straightforward, and most importantly, it should be friendly.

Effective communicators are made, not born. It is a skill acquired through consistent efforts in the right direction.
The first & foremost step to be taken is to LISTEN. Listen to the communication of those whom you admire. Notice how they put their ideas across to their listeners. The next step is to READ. Read a lot of articles, blogs, books on subjects of your choice. What you read will reflect in how you communicate. And then an essential step - PRACTICE! Keep on practising till you get to your desired target.
I hope that helped!
