Why we always laterally inverted image in the mirror and not a vertically inverted image????

The image formed by the plain mirror is erect , laterally inverted, and of the same size to the object . The left side of the object appears to the right side of the image . Also, the distance of the image from the plane mirror is same as the distance between the plane mirror and the object

In the mirror, images are formed as the object is placed, i.e., nearer to nearer, distant to distant. So, the left portion of an object comes on the right of mirror.

If you consider base line of the mirror as vertical line then according to law of reflection the light coming from left will reflect in same angle to right. For your case you need to change the base of the mirror again to horizontal.
