It takes around 10-12 months to go from A1 to B2 where you spend 25 hrs a week (that is more than 4hrs a day) learning to language at a premium institute ie. Goethe/Max Mueller Bhavan. If you go with a private tutor or institute, it can take somewhere between 14-16 months depending on how well you respond to the learning speed and how competent your tutor is.
Learning entirely on your own from A1 to B2 can take 2.5 to 3 years. And this is just learning the "content" of B2. For exam preparation for the new B2 will need one month of daily 3-5 hrs of practice.

I have been teaching A1, A2 for almost 3.5 years now. From my experience of teaching my students, I can say that the A1 A2 level takes around five months for completion and then one month for exam preparation. After that, to give the exam and get certification takes around the 1-month maximum. After that, B1 would require about four months. So total maybe one year or more to get B1 certificate from the time you start A1 course.
