Mridangam is a percussive instrument(related to Laya). It is made of wood and animal skin after their death. It also contains layers of melted black material which is extracted from a stone and it is named ‘karina’. According to Vedas, it is said that Lord Ganesha , Lord shiva and Lord Vishnu had played Mridangam. All the Gods and Goddesses reside inside the Mridangam.
