UGC NET paper-1 consist of 10 sections:
1. Teaching aptitude.
2. Research aptitude.
3. Reading comprehension.
4. Communication.
5. Reasoning.
6. Logical reasoning.
7. Data interpretation.
8. Information and communication tectechnology.
9. People and environment.
10. Higher education system: Governance, polity and administration
My main objective during the lesson would be to guide the student so that they would be able to solve the problems on their own. I'll be starting with the first section of the paper 1 that is teaching aptitude.
The main objective of teaching aptitude are:
1) To understand the learner's point of view or perspective.
2) To know the factors that are affecting the teaching.
3) To use various methods for teaching.
4) Make use of teaching aids in classroom.
5) To evaluate effectively.
6) To manage classroom.
To make the lesson more effective you have to first imagine yourself as a teacher. As soon as you visualize yourself in the role of a guide or an instructor you will start to get the feel on how a teacher should conduct themselves. Teaching is a dynamic process. It is influenced by social and human factors. Teachers not only teach students the subject matter but also teach them how they should conduct themselves in society helping them to develop their self concept (meaning knowing more about selves). Teaching could also be called as creative art because teaching requires creativity in ways where it could make teaching as a more fun and enjoyable for the students.
The most basic requirements for teaching are:
- Teacher who is also called as independent variable.
- Student or dependent variable.
- Intervening variables are the tools required for the interaction between a teacher and the students like teaching aids (presentation, graphs, maps etc).
- Relationship of teacher and student.
- Classroom environment.
- Teacher's professionalism.
- Discipline of student.
- Willingness to teach by a teacher and learn by a student.
A professional teacher should not be discriminating towards their student. They should provide personal care to their students to encourge the positive growth in their student's character and promote learning.
There are various modes in teaching as well:
- Teaching: is done to bring fundamental changes in the behaviour of a student. It helps in shaping of a total person.
- Conditioning: is to improve the learning skills of students.
- Training: is to shape behaviour and conduct of the student. It also helps in developing various skills in a person.
- Instruction: is for developing knowledge and understanding in a person. It aims in the development of intellect and cognitive ability.
- Indoctrination: is formation of belief. It is the highest level of teaching method. It shapes the ideals and belief of a student which helps them in becoming a beter person in the future.
