Nowadays students are more interested in sms language which is not at all appropriate in the industry. They opt for shortcuts in everything and hence cannot communicate properly as their knowledge is confined.

English is not our everyday language. Yes, the subject is being taught at a large scale and is being stressed on in the curriculums but the same is not being adapted in spoken platforms, that is why the students lack in terms of their spoken english skills.

I agree Kirti....Educational system is to blame. Communication skills involve both the language as well as what type of words you use. If you are talking about fluency in Spoken English, the only effective way to build it is to listen more and more to good English spoken preferably by native English Speakers. You can use the TV to your advantage. This creates an artificial environment. Students are weak in this area because in most places in India we do not get a natural environment for good Spoken English. So, if you don't get a natural environment, create a fake one. Use the TV. For choice of words, focus on your overall personality. The stronger your True Self i.e.your confidence level, the more you are relaxed and the lesser you hurt people while speaking. For example, if someone has a classmate who is a girl and the girl has a dark complexion, he may say, " You are black " or he can also say, " You have a dark complexion but overall you look good because you have such a neat and positive personality ". In the latter case, the girl will instead like what you are saying. I know this because I have tried using positive words and sentences to say something which is not so positive and have actually won lots of friends using this method. Remember, this method only works and you improve in it only if you make yourself a more positive personality by improving your confidence. Try it. read less

Communicative skills, though dependant on the knowledge of a language, is not ONLY that. In my opinion, the present generation is increasingly inclined towards a virtual interactive platform that, ironically, even though promises a global acceptance, practically isolates them into individuals with diminished people skills. Gestures, postures, words, silences -- everything leads to an effective communication. Unless that happens, it is very difficult to nurture and express oneself. Probably that is the problem. read less

Is it grammatically right to omit "whether" in this sentence: They will follow you no matter you feed them or not? Why so?
Omitting "whether" in this sentence is fine as you have already written "no matter." No matter is itself used for an "if" situation.
