Learning is an art that has clearly been enjoyed for generations. Philosophers, painters, architects, martyrs; everybody has appreciated it. There are multiple ways of learning English for newbies. As a matter of fact, it is possible to learn anything through tons of sources out there. Now that we're an English learning app, we thought it would be the right time to discuss if apps are indeed the best form of learning a language. Are they?
Apps are generally something we traditionally used for entertainment. We'd get the fanciest phones and load them with the coolest apps, keeping us hooked for hours.
Sitting in the classroom with textbooks and listening to a teacher for 7 hours straight is how we usually learn in India. Schools still follow the theoretical method of teaching. Learning became a task we never particularly enjoyed. Then came in geniuses who clubbed the two. What better way to learn than from something you enjoy the most? Most apps today are gamified, which means you learn through games. This kind of learning has a great impact in the mind. Also, isn't this such a fun way to learn?
We personally think integrating mobile apps and language learning is a brilliant idea. But are mobile apps the perfect solution? Well, that is questionable. Take the example of Duolingo. Duolingo is a free language learning app. Because of covering almost every well known language in the world, the app got major publicity. Even Bill Gates uses it! Yes, you can definitely learn basics of the language and be able to survive in a new country. But can it build your confidence? Not so much.
What does the ideal language learning method look like?
While apps provide 75% of the solution, we think it's best if you combine it with a little bit of classroom training. Get yourself a mentor, or a guide who you can go to when in doubt; someone who can build your confidence immensely. This way you get the convenience of learning through a game, at your own pace while also being mentored by an expert, giving you the confidence you need. Yes, you get the best of both worlds!
