Good morning till 12.00 in afternoon after that good afternoon till the evening; now evening may differ with places to what time it occurs(some places get darker faster other later) but as the definition of evening goes it is the time when the day light starts decreasing; so you can figure it out approx. Now the interesting part where kids often make mistake as you might be knowing that if you meet somebody at evening you say good-evening; but remember even when you meet somebody say at night; eg.; at a late party or such always say "Good evening" NOT Good night ; rather Good night is always said when you are departing; biding adieu; farewell(goodbye). Even when say you are leaving or departing before night(late evening) especially when you don't have to meet that person again that day; you can say "Good Night". So basically GoodNight is always farewell and if you want to bid farewell little earlier during the day you can say simply "Good day" to you (just the opposite of Goodnight) read less
