What is forestry? Explain.

Forestry is basically a term used for managing forests. It basically means the science of planting and taking care of trees and forests. It includes all thinking and actions leading to creation and management of forests, including harvesting, marketing and utilization of all forest products and services.

Forestry is a science or a practice of planting, managing and caring of forests. It is a complex interaction of climate, soil, rock, water, animals and plans in a natural forest. They together form an ecosystem and depend on each other for their sheer survival. It also includes the wise use of natural resources, associated with and derived from forest lands, timber, water, fish, wildlife, soil, etc.

Forestry is the study of this complex interaction, the management of the various components of the forest, the preservation of its' natural balance (of forests and the life forms they support) as well as the care of it to ensure its' wellbeing.

Good forestry programs also make it possible for humans to get some economic value from it, without hurting the forests in any way. This way of using the forest is known as Sustainable Forestry.

Forestry is the science and craft of creating, managing, using, conserving, and repairing forests and associated resources to meet desired goals, needs and values for human and environment benefits.

Forestry in India is a significant rural industry and a major environmental resource. India is one of the ten most forest-rich countries of the world along with Russia, Brazil, Canada, United States of America, China, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Australia, Indonesia and Sudan. Together, India and these countries account for 67 percent of total forest area of the world
