Those rivers which flow eastward in the peninsular plateau which are known to be wide

Those rivers which flow westwards in the peninsular plateau are known to be small excluding River Narmada and Tapi

Huge deltas at the birth place

They do not have deltas

They don’t flow through trough

Narmada and Tapi flow through troughs which are formed due to faulting

The final destination of these rivers are at the Bay of Bengal

The final destination of these rivers are at the Arabian Sea

East flowing rivers flow into Bay of Bengal and western flowing revers flow into Arabian Sea. Western flowing rivers are bereft of deltas whereas Eastern flowing rivers make large deltas on their way to the ocean (This is largely due to the fact that Western flowing rivers pass through many gorges, V-shaped valleys and they are swifter than their Eastern counterparts) read less

Difference between east flowing and west flowing rivers:

(1) As the naming suggest the east flowing rivers have their course of flowing towards east and fall into the east side sea of India (i.e. Bay of Bengal), and west flowing rivers have their course of action towards west and finally fall into the west side sea of India (i.e The Arab Sea).

(2) The west flowing rivers are generally longer and have lower slope gradient than east flowing rivers resulting in formation of delta at their mouth while east flowing rivers make estuaries.

(3) Most of the east flowing rivers are originated from Either Himalayas or eastern slopes of western ghats where west flowing rivers are generally originates from either Vindhyas range and central India or western slope of western ghats.

(4) The east flowing rivers are both perennial (those who originate from Himalayas e.g Ganges, Yamuna, Brahmaputra etc) and seasonal (those who originates from western ghats and other places e.g. Mahanadi, Godavari, Krishna etc). But west flowing rivers are seasonal only e.g. Narmada, Tapti, Sabarmati etc.
