Kick Boxing One of the most famous form of self-defense attempted by people worldwide is Kick Boxing, It is not very complicated to learn, basically kick boxing focuses on punches- use of hands and elbows, kicks- use of knees and legs, the movement is rapid and powerful creating confusing and damage to the attacker. Kick boxing was introduced first in Japan by combining various martial arts forms like Muay Thai, Kun Khmer and boxing, various other variants were developed like The American Kick Boxing, The French Boxe pieds-poings, Thai Kickboxing or Muay Thai, Indian Musti yuddha etc.

Kick boxing is not only famous for being one of the top self-defense technique but it is also a great form of exercise, helps increase stamina, increases concentration and is also a renowned contact sport. As the movement is very rapid, it requires a lot of stamina and concentration to be able to pin down the opponent. It makes a person more aware of the surroundings as well. Karate Karate has been one of the most famous forms of martial art; many great movies have been dedicated to this sport as well. Movies like Ip Man, The Karate Kid, The Legend of Drunker Master, Enter the Dragon have not only awe struck us and made us want to learn Karate but also manage to teach us a few moves to show-off in front of everybody.

Karate is a martial art form developed in Ryukyu Kingdom of China, The main focus is use of punches, kicks, knee strikes, elbow strikes and various forms of hand like open hand, knife hand etc., Karate is a traditional sport not just focusing on self-defense but also self-development and psychological elements like positive attitude, perseverance, fearlessness, leadership skills, discipline etc., It gives a person a sense of confidence and makes the mind more alert. Taekwondo Originating in Korea, Taekwondo has managed to grab the attention of enthusiasts worldwide, unlike Kick Boxing and Karate; Taekwondo emphasizes on head-height kicks, jumping-spinning kicks, and fast kicking techniques. It has been influenced by martial arts forms like Karate and Chinese martial arts and various Korean Martial arts.

Taekwondo is a fast pace martial arts where there is constant and swift move of the body which has been known to increase agility stamina and stability even when there is a sudden attack, it also helps improve flexibility and reflexes. Jiu-Jitsu Jiu-Jitsu is a Brazilian martial art form where a person combats or defends himself/ herself from an opponent who might be armed or unarmed using a small weapon or no weapon. Jiu-jitsu can be translated as the art of manipulating and using the opponent’s force to harm the opponent rather than using one’s own force by using bare hands or legs or a small weapon. It was observed that if the opponent is armed, it is very difficult to attack or harm the opponent thus, the focus shifted on neutralization in the form of joint locks, throws, twisting of arms and legs, biting, striking and kicking etc.

Jiu- Jitsu is one of the handiest martial arts as it teaches an individual how to distract the person and use the opponent to harm themselves. Rather than directly hitting or attacking the opponent, sometimes distraction might be a better option as the attacker might be sturdier and powerful which could lead to fatal calamities. This form creates the best window to attack and escape. Mixed Martial Arts: Combing various fighting techniques of wrestling and boxing with martial art forms like Kickboxing, Judo and Karate Mixed Martial Arts were formed. This form is one of the most renowned contact sport in the recent times and has also been looked up as a fine self-defense technique as it uses various techniques like kicking, striking, grappling, joint locks, punches while on a standing position as well as on the ground to pin down the opponent.

This is one of the widely used forms while self-defense as there are variety of options. It is rapid and enables a person to escape even while pinned down on the ground, as there are no strict rules a person is free to use which ever technique that is suitable to the situation.
